Neil, these paintings are fabulous, loose but retaining a classic feel (have you read David Hockney on chiaroscuro?)
I have just enjoyed reading your blog and especially appreciate your frankness about the difficulties as well as the pleasures of creating them.

The book is called Secret Knowledge and he also has a few theories about those old master food still lifes which must have rotted because they took so long to paint!
